Group of people participating in the Liverpool MakeFest event inside a multi-story modern shopping mall. The group includes men, women, and children, some wearing MakeFest t-shirts, with a woman in a wheelchair. The mall has multiple floors with glass railings, and a banner with the MakeFest logo is visible on the upper level.

It all begins with an idea In a library to get children into making. For the last decade, I have been the founder and organizer of Liverpool Makefest and Makefest in general, along with Denise Jones of Liverpool Central Libary and Dr Mark Feltham at LJMU and hundreds of makers each year.

Makefest has since established itself as the UK's largest get-together of digital creative makers. I also created the first makerspace in a UK school a few years later and have been helping set them up whenever possible. Makefest is now (per our DMCS guidance) in many libraries and museums, and Makerspaces within schools are now all over the UK.
